I am seriously worried about what is happening to information of our country ... and I'm not referring to Italy, but in reality much smaller: the city of Latimer .
First I make a reflection. What is an article?
I think that article is nothing but a text, and text, by its nature, is a work that has two authors: he writes - and is limited to tell a history without reveal their thoughts - and anyone who reads - and that's opinion based on their own ideas and values.
But is it really? The articles reflect really just the facts? Unfortunately no, the journalists of the past, the reporters, who told stories trying not to be confused with their opinions ... no longer exist.
today's newspapers are free and full of reporters full of opinion, that tell the facts soaked personal considerations ... An example?
last city council have approved one of the key points of our program, the establishment of the special. But already the morning preceding the City Council - November 22 - The Journal of the South had published on its website an article by Franco Giuliano; the article in question, the tone decidedly critical of the majority of ' special agency, contained statements - clearly contrary - issued by the parent council of the PDL Pine Christmas.
Four days later, on the afternoon of November 26 last year, I happened to read a new article on the website of Gazzetta del Mezzogiorno, also signed by Frank Giuliano. The article this time, besides containing statements by the new adviser Christmas (PDL), reported also that of advisor Jewel (PD) and the Regional Council Decaro (PD ),.... Needless to say, they were all very critical of ' special company and the majority. The article in question also was full of inaccuracies, which is why I decided to immediately send a reply on behalf of the entire majority.
Then, at 17:10 on 26 November, Only the intent to clarify and not to make propaganda, I sent e-mail my statement to the Gazzetta del Mezzogiorno, the new daily and the site of Puglia The Voice of Latimer.
Well, apart from the Voice of Latimer (thanks to the heart) think that my statement has been invested with the honor of being published at least one of the two heads? Of course not, but you will have already understood this, because otherwise I would not have written this post ...
La Gazzetta del Mezzogiorno, however, went even further, because not only did not publish my point of view (denying in fact the right of reply), but the next day, 27/11/2010, issued a new press always produced by the group PDL Latimer and of course always critical of the majority and of the special ... In short, PDL 3 - 0 Pascariello ....
Then I asked myself, why people like Christmas, Jewel, Decaro can have their say and those who think differently can not do? Why I have not been granted the right of reply? Why is denied contradictory? Maybe because I'm not a political important, but just an ordinary citizen in his first administrative experience? I must therefore think that the ordinary citizen, "the last" (as would a dear friend), may not have the right to voice his opinion?
For this reason I decided to write to you, ordinary citizens like me, I ask you to read this post and send to your friends, I ask you to give maximum visibility to write comments, talk in the streets, on social networks, the phone ... I ask you not to jump to conclusions, but to build a complete picture listening to me too. I ask you to do what they should do, but do not, the local newspapers: the possibility to everyone - whoever they may be - to have its say and to be heard.
I have always believed that every point of view deserves to have equal visibility, to allow the listener (or in this case, the reader) to get the views that they consider most just based on a complete picture.
Voltaire said: "I do not agree what you say but defend to the death the freedom that you have to externalize your thinking" ... Perhaps Voltaire was just a poor idealist, a believer of equality and freedom of thought, an ordinary citizen ...
... or a "last", if you like ...
